Pictures of Qaddafi, ethical?
The former leader of Libya Muammar el-Qaddafi was killed recently, very graphic pictures and videos of his dead body have been circulating on the internet. You can some of these images below but be warned they are intense and potentially disturbing. You are not required to look at this material.

What are your thoughts on the politics on this kind of thing? Do you think it's ok for images of this kind of to be seen? Is it necessary? Should all victims of violence have images of their bodies kept out of circulation? Is this an issue of privacy? Free speech?

I am torn on this subject. A part of me is saying that these images are necessary for the sake of history.
ReplyDeleteAnother side of me is saying that its not necessary to see human suffering, even if it is Qaddafi.
One thing is for sure, these images are disturbing and powerful. It can be dangerous if it is taken out of context.
I personally don't believe these images are necessary to be seen. Because I don't like to view these sort of images, I trustingly take the medias information as fact with these types of subjects. However, I do understand that people do need concrete evidence to move on. For that, its understandable why these images are not kept out of circulation or private.
